at The Construction Specifications Institute's 2001 National Convention

Students, faculty, administrators, and chapter/region academic affairs liaisons involved with schools having construction related curricula were encouraged to take advantage of the many activities planned for them at the CSI convention in Dallas.  Included this year was a special education tract developed by the AA task team entitled Environmental Awareness in Construction. The Student Design Competition has been doubled to 20 teams.  Here is a summary of events:

Wednesday, June 20

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm    Special early bird tour of the inner workings of an A/E’s office.

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm    Student social and dinner at Hotel -Dutch treat

9:30 pm - 10:30 pm  Student orientation to convention events, activities, and competition

 Thursday, June 21

7:30  am  - 5:00 pm  Registration (Full convention registration complimentary to student design competition team members

8:30 am - 10:20 am  Opening General Session, Awards Program, and Keynote Speaker

10:30 am - 3:30 pm  Student Design Competition (Use your imagination to create a unique structure - Check-out Rules.  Complimentary exhibit hall lunch tickets provided for competition team members.)

3:40 pm  - 5:00 pm   Education Sessions (Take your pick of concurrent sessions.)

5:00 pm -  6:00 pm   Student Caucus (Your opportunity to meet other students, faculty, and advisors attending the Convention and learn the specifics of events scheduled for the convention.)

6:00 pm  - 7:30 pm   Welcome Reception - see Convention program guide for location.

 Friday, June 22 

9:30 am - 10:20 am  Education Sessions (Take your pick of concurrent sessions.)

10:30 am - 2:30 pm  Exhibit Hall Tour (Wander the exhibit hall learning all you could ever want to know about materials, applications, and resources.  Lunch tickets provided to student design competition members)

2:40 pm - 5:00 pm    Education Sessions (Take your pick of concurrent sessions.)

5:15 pm - 6:20 pm    Region Caucuses (Attend your region’s caucus to learn more about what is happening in your region.)

6:00 pm -                   Exhibitor Hospitality Functions (There’s no excuse to leave hungry!)

 Saturday, June

8:30 am - 10:20 am  Education Sessions (Take your pick of concurrent sessions.)

10:30 am - 2:30 pm  Off-Site Tour (Buses will take us on a 4 hour field trip to tour a nearby construction site.  Learn how a design is translated into reality and what a construction administrator needs to know.  Lunch provided.)

2:00 pm                     Student Design Competition winners announced.

2:40 pm - 5:00 pm    Education Sessions (Take your pick of concurrent sessions, including The CSI Academic Partnership - an open forum for exchanging ideas on starting and maintain successful relationships with academic institutions.  Come share your success stories with others!)

6:15 pm - 9:00 pm    President’s Gala (Reception, dinner, and awards - complimentary to first place student design competitors.)

9:00 pm  - 12:00 pm Final Night Party

 Sunday, June 24

8:15 am - 9:45 am       Closing General Session

10:00 am - 2:00 pm     Post Convention Architectural Tour
